The Deputy Governor of Yobe state Hon Idi Barde Gubana ( Wazirin Fune) has launched the second phase in Zone B, Damagum headquarters of Fune local government area.
Speaking shortly before the commencement of the distribution, the Deputy Governor who is also the Deputy chairman committee on palliative explained that the target beneficiaries are vulnerable persons, particularly people living with disabilities, women head of households, the elderly and students among others.
Inorder to ensure timely and fair distribution of the palliatives in the local government Areas, sub- Committees were established with membership drawn from traditional rulers (District Heads and Village Heads), reputable community leaders, religious leaders and representatives of Civil society organizations.
The Deputy Governor in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Hussaini Mai Suleh urged the people of the state to cooperate with the Committee and sub_ Committees for a hitch-free conduct of the assignment and also appealed to people to continue praying for peace,bumper harvest and prosperity.
In his remarks, the executive secretary state emergency Management agency Dr. Mohammad Goje said that they will ensure that only needy will recieve the items and are not short changed.
He said over 14,500 communities are expected to recieve the palliatives.
He further stressed that the Third phase will be conducted in Zone C at Jakusko.
Also speaking the Chairman Fune local government Hon Baba Goni Bade applauded the state government for the front response on hardship of their people.
He appealed to the committee on palliative to consider Fune local government with the largest population in the state and should be given consideration on the sharing formula.
