The President-General of the World Youth United Nations Organisation (WYUNO), Ambassador Adeniyi Adeyemi has condemned in strong terms xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa.
In a press statement issued by his spokesperson, Mr. Adeola Badru, the world youth president described the attacks on Nigerians as barbaric, criminal and uncalled for.
He noted that the act portrayed South Africa as an uncivilised country in the international community, thereby demanding an apology from South Africa to the Nigerian Government.
Amb. Adeyemi urged the South African Government to take punitive measures against the perpetrators of such inhuman acts to discourage others.
He opined that the development was capable of endangering the relationship between Nigeria and South Africa.
Adeyemi, however, admonished the South African Government to rise up to the occasion to forstall any further attack on Nigerians resident in their country.
While recalling what Nigeria contributed to their freedom, Amb. Adeyemi added that the attacks on Nigerians violated all values the country might have among the comity of nations.
