Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde  on Tourism Hon Akeem Ademola Ige on Tuesday visited Igbeti community in Olorunsogo local government area of Oyo state to ascertain the level of readiness of the 2022 world tourism day

The Marble city which is also endowed with tourism potentials will be hosting this year annual event

World tourism day is a day set aside by United Nation World Tourism Organization to sensitize the people about the economic and enviromental benefits of tourism.

This year theme “Rethinking Tourism” aims at inspiring the debate around rethinking tourism for development, including through education and jobs, and tourism’s impact on the planet and opportunities to grow more sustainably.

Hon Ige who was accompanied by a travel and tour consultant, Ms Sara Sobowale, Member Oyo State Tourism Board, Erelu Funmi Rotiba, National PRO Federation of Tourism Practitioner Association of Nigeria (FTAN) Prince Wale Olapade, Publisher National Insight, Remi Oladoye and other top Civil servants visited some of the sites with the acting council chairman, Igbetitoro community Leader and other stakeholders.

Some of the sites visited includes Bata Erugba, Oke Agbele, Iyamopo and others

Ige said the purpose of the visit is to see the level of preparation and make proper arrangements for the success of the program schedule to hold on September 27.

He added that “The executive governor of the State Engineer Oluseyi Makinde will lead both local and international tourists to the community during the events and we have to make sure everything is on order for the day”.

He urged the council chairman and the stakeholders to ensure that the environment is clean and accessible during the event.

Hon Bamikunle Ezekiel Adetunji, the acting chairman said they are working hand in hand with the tourism committee and other stakeholders to ensure a befitting celebration

” We are happy that the state deem it fit to consider Igbeti as the host of this unique event, we are no doubt endowed with a lot of tourism potentials, we are ready, part of the effort is the inauguration of touris committee few weeks ago”
