A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in Oyo state Hon Akinwale Akinwole has harped on the need for government to prioritize the welfare of teachers and creates a conducive environment for teaching
Akinwole, also known as Wolekanle said this in a congratulatory message to the teachers on this years edition of world Teacher’s day .
Every October 5th is World Teacher’s Day, set aside to celebrate the teachers’ contributions to global development annually by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) where the world appraises their collective challenges and discuss the way forward
Wolekanle said the teachers sacrificed their energy and time to build the leaders and followers in the societies, their welfare should not be toyed with by any serious government
“We should always appreciate and celebrate our teachers who taught us right from the elementary class to tertiary level, they are strong pillars in the society, God uses them to mold our lives teachers, one wonders what would have been happening in the world if there are no teachers”
“Though education is not restricted to the four walls of classrooms but our teachers both at formal and informal schools, deserve to be commended for impacting us the knowledge to know the difference between left and right, ability to read, write and understand
While commending Governor Seyi Makinde for prompt payment of salaries and emoluments of the retired teachers and civil servants Wolekanle said the development is boosting the morale of the teachers and other government workers and encourage them to do more for the benefits of the society.
