The Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, Bashorun Akinwale Solomon Akinwole (Wolekanle), has called for unity and collaboration among all members of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Oyo State Chapter, following the recent union elections.
Wolekanle made the call while receiving members of the newly reelected NULGE executive and their campaign team — the Authentic Integrity Group (AIG) — who paid him a courtesy “Thank You” visit in his office.
During the meeting, Wolekanle congratulated President Ayobami Olusegun Adeogun and his team on their victory, commending the peaceful and democratic nature of the election process. He described the exercise as a positive sign of political maturity within the union.
He also advised the reelected leadership to promote inclusiveness and unity by extending hands of fellowship to all members, regardless of where they stood during the elections.
“This is not a time for division, but for building. Extend the olive branch to your opponents and even those who didn’t support your ambition. True leadership is tested in moments like this,” Wolekanle said.
The NULGE election, which witnessed participation from delegates across the state, also produced other key officers, including the Auditor, Ex-Officio Members, and Trustees. The process was widely praised for its transparency, orderliness, and credibility.
In his remarks, President Ayobami Adeogun expressed appreciation to the union members for the renewed confidence in his leadership. He pledged to build on past achievements while ensuring inclusiveness, transparency, and accountability in the affairs of the union.
As part of post-election activities, the Authentic Integrity Group (AIG), led by Comrade (Prince) Segun Adeyemo, Director-General of the campaign team, embarked on a statewide “Thank You Tour” to appreciate supporters, stakeholders, and the electoral body for ensuring a free, fair, and peaceful election.
