Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for lifting the state of emergency earlier imposed on Rivers State, describing the move as a restoration of democratic governance and a testament to the President’s commitment to peace.
Wike, in a statement issued on Wednesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, said President Tinubu’s proactive decision not only stabilized Rivers State but also reinforced public confidence in his leadership.
“The President has once again demonstrated his total commitment to peace and the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria. His intervention has saved Rivers State from further crisis and restored the confidence of the people in his administration,” Wike stated.
The former governor of Rivers State lauded residents for their continued support for the President’s reform agenda and urged all stakeholders in the state to put aside their differences and work collectively in the interest of peace, progress, and development.
He cautioned individuals he described as fifth columnists, who thrive on chaos, to steer clear of the state, stressing that henceforth, “the only news from Rivers State will be that of peace, progress, and development.”
