In a resignation letter addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman and made available to the press, Hon. Adeyemo expressed dissatisfaction with the party’s current direction, stating that it no longer aligns with the principles that brought him into politics—namely integrity, accountability, and selfless service to the people.
“The murky waters of politics are increasingly being hijacked by some elements whose values and conduct do not align with the principles of integrity, accountability, and service,” he wrote.
Speaking to journalists after submitting his letter, Hon. Adeyemo went further to explain the real reasons for his departure, stating bluntly that his decision was prompted by persistent neglect and the high-handedness of the party leadership.
“What pushed me to resign was not just ideological. It was the arrogance of leadership, their highhandedness, and the continued neglect of loyal and committed financial members like myself,” he said.
“People who have sacrificed their time, resources, and goodwill for the party are being sidelined, while individuals without grassroots legitimacy impose themselves through impunity. That is not the politics I signed up for.”
Hon. Adeyemo noted that he had endured these frustrations for years in the hope of internal reform and reconciliation, but the situation only worsened.
He added that he is currently in consultation with his supporters and community leaders, and would soon announce his next political move.
“In conjunction with my numerous faithful supporters, we shall, in due course, announce our next political move. Our commitment remains to the public good and the true progress of Ogbomoso South.”
Despite his grievances, Hon. Adeyemo thanked the PDP for the opportunity to serve and reiterated his unwavering dedication to the welfare of his people.
His resignation is being viewed by many political analysts as a significant blow to the PDP in Ogbomoso South, considering his deep-rooted influence among the grassroots, youths, community elders, and opinion leaders.
Efforts to get a reaction from party executives were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
