Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Tourism Arts and Culture,Hon Akeem Ademola Ige has said that his office will form a synergy with media practitioners and other stakeholders in the industry to promote and make Oyo state a tourism hub.
Ige , a former minority leader of the Oyo state House of Assembly disclosed this speaking with National President of Association of Nigerian Journalist and Tourism Writer (ANJENT) led by its National President Omololu Olumuyiwa and the immediate past secretary of the Association, Prince Wale Olapade in his office in Ibadan.
He noted that the deliberate negligence of the past administration in tourism sector has affected its growth and expansion but assured that the present government will do everything to take it to where it should be.
“Oyo state is blessed with a lot of tourism potentials, and Governor Seyi Makinde has given us marching order to develop the sector he is much more interested in tourism because of the economic benefit and employment generation value”.
He also disclosed his readiness to commence assessment tour of tourism and heritage sites in the state and commence immediate rehabilitation with the view of making it attractive to both local and foreign tourists.
‘ Just few days ago, delegations from the Federal Government came , they visited some of our sites and we are also not just ready make available necessary facilities to make the site more attractive to tourism but working towards enlisting some of them into UNESCO world heritage sites and one of the seven wonders in Nigeria”
The Association President, Omololu Olumuyiwa in his remark commended Engineer Oluseyi Makinde for appointing Hon Ige and express optimism that he would add value to government through tourism Arts and Culture
