Former Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, has assured that the Presidential Support Committee (PSC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will deliver 10 million votes to President Muhammadu Buhari in the February presidential election.
This was as he declared that God has guaranteed victory for the APC candidate and his deputy, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, in the election.
Akpabio, a former governor of Akwa Ibom State and National Coordinator of PSC, gave the assurance at the inauguration of the South West and states’ coordinators of the committee in Ibadan on Friday.
The former governor of Akwa Ibom State, who spoke at the inauguration of the South West and states’ coordinators of the committee, called on the people of the zone to vote enmasse for the APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
He said the group, at local and state government levels across the country, had continued to mop up support for the re-election of the APC presidential candidate, based on his achievements in the last three and half years.
He noted that Nigerians had found in Buhari a leader committed and dedicated to the struggle to bring about the desired change in the polity.
He said the support groups have therefore volunteered to ensure that President Buhari receives not less than10 million votes from the group and tasked members to work for the victory of the party at the election.
“We are at various units, wards and local governments, moving on daily basis, working for the re-election of President Buhari, Vice President Osinbajo and APC.
Since campaigns started, God has guaranteed victory for APC and President Buhari in 2019 general elections.
“We are already winning because we are the champions. This is because we have seen a man who wants to bring change. We have seen a man who has brought back respect for the country and its people.
“Opposition may say whatever they want, but I believe in transformational leadership, represented by President Buhari,” he said, as he urged the people of the South West to continue to work for the continued progress of the country.
In his welcome address, Deputy National Coordinator (South), Senator Akin Odunsi, said the fate of the opposition in the country shall be sealed in another 21 days time when, according to him, Nigerians would unanimously vote to re-elect President Muhammadu Buhari.
“From today (Friday), it remains exactly 22 days to the D-Day that we are going to re-elect Muhammadu Buhari and Vice Yemi Osinbajo as our president and vice president, respectively.
“By the grace of God, here in the South West, we are committed to the integrity and vision of President Buhari, ably supported by his deputy, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.
“In spite of all challenges created by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for 16 years, we are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. We must not allow the looters back to our treasury. They are desperate, but we shall overcome”, he said.
Also speaking, Senior Special Assistant (Political Matters) to the President, Julius Samani, said Nigerians loved Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo due to their transparency, integrity and simple lifestyles.
Commending the president for his fight against insecurity and corruption, he advised APC members in the South West not to give in to intimidation and character assassination.
