Director General, Ekiti State Council for Arts and Culture , Ambassador Wale Ojo Lanre has restated the Ekiti State government’s commitment to celebrate and promote legends who are involved in showcasing the culture, tradition,value and heritage in the state.
Ojo Lanre said this while recieving King Femi Ariyo, an indigenous traditional musician in Ekiti state who paid him a visit in his office
Ariyo, an award winning septugenarian with over 60 albums is a comtemporary of the late Chief Elemure Ogunyemi, Ologun Sanni ,Ajoyemi and others of blessed memory
Ojo Lanre maintained that one of the role of the council is to identify, develop, promote and celebrate the major acts involved in showcasing Ekiti cultural heritage as well as creating a platform for training of the younger ones.
He said “Already we are collaborating with various group in the creative industry in rebranding and showcasing Ekiti arts, culture and tradition to the world for economic benefit and job creation.
” We will be engaging musicians ,artists and others in local and international events, exhibition and display. He added.
In his response, Chief Ariyo commended the council for restoring the hope of the people in the creative industry,in the state and pledged his desire to be part of the progress
Chief Ariyo who was in company of Mr Lekan Adejuwon and Ayodele Abeere , both from the stable of Ekiti Standard newspaper said ” I am still active in the industry, and i am ever ready to work for the upliftment of Ekiti state, I only want to implore you to also patronize and promote us so that we will not be forgotten in the scheme of social functions”
Present at the meeting were management and staff of the council led by the Permanent secretary, Mr Ibrahim Ganiyu and other Directors
