Parents of abducted students of Greenfield University, Kaduna said they paid a ransom of N180million Naira and 10 motorcycle to secure the release of their children from theor abductors.
Some students and members of staff of the privately owned university were abucted on 20th April 2021 from their campus .
The Green Field University is located along the Kaduna–Abuja Highway in the Chikun Local Government Area, and it is also the state’s first private university that was established three years ago.
On Saturday 29th may, the remaining 14 students were released by the
abductors aftet payment of ransom
Some of the parents of the freed students accusrd government of not intervening in the matter ” No single policeman or security men were sent to search for the children, but thank God our children are back
The parents also rejected police escort for their children.
The Kaduna State Government has confirmed the release of abducted Greenfield University students ,who had been in captivity since April, 2021.
Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs in Kaduna State,disclosed this in a statement on Saturday night. The statement read :
“The kidnapped students of the Greenfield University who had been held hostage by armed bandits, have been released by their abductors. ”
Governor Nasir el-Rufai welcomed the news of the students’ release, and conveyed solace and encouragement to them following their harrowing ordeal.”
“He assured them that the bitterness of the last few weeks, now over, would set the backdrop for positive achievements in their lives, as he wished them well for the future.”
