The Oyo state chapter of Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) has reiterated its resolve to eradicate quackery and impersonation in journalism practice in the state.
Comrade Adewumi Faniran, Chairman of NUJ in Oyo state, disclosed this while addressing participants at a workshop organized by National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) in the state.
Faniran noted that NUJ has been waging a serious war against quackery and will not relent in its effort to stem the tide of impersonation in the media practice.
He said further that ” Part of the efforts is the ongoing biometric registration of qualified media practitioners in the state”.
Faniran, however, urged those who are yet to register to go and do the needful, assuring that the union will not do anything with sentiment but with strict adherence to the ethics of media practice and laid down rules.
