The Ex- Student of Ekiti State University started the marathon which is the longest time to watch a movie in a cinema by an individual on the 16th of October, 2023 will end on 23rd October.
According to him the idea of Guinness World Record came to his mind as a platform to raise awareness for a purpose which he christened The Learned Exponents Forum (LEF)
” I am an advocate for the rights of disabled persons, and I clamour for the recognition and special attention for the first class citizens of the country which are persons with disabilities such as; dyslexia, autism, e.t.c. This is a personal cause for me because having grown up with a family that has autism, I have been able to understand that people with disabilities should be recognised and adequately provided for in the society instead of casting them out or secluding them. In this part of the world, people with disabilities especially children, are being locked in the room by their parents for being so-called ‘different’ from other members of the society. Most times, these children rely on watching television after being secluded and abandoned by their so-called family members or community.
“This is what gave life to the idea of this Watchathon. I needed a platform that could make The Learned Exponents Forum (LEF) to be recognised globally as a foundation that not only seeks to create awareness for persons with disabilities but also to cater for such persons and ensure that they are adequately recognised in our society. ”
“I intended to use the Guinness World Records as a tool/platform to ensure that my movement for recognition of persons with disabilities will be seen globally so that adequate reforms will be put in place to cater for this special persons”
