The late . Akinyele, a native of Efon Alaaye in Ekiti State, reportedly slumped while giving a speech at the event and was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

The unfortunate incident cast a pall over what was meant to be a joyous occasion for his wife, Mrs. Catherine Akinyele. Moments before the collapse, Mr. Akinyele had unveiled a brand-new Toyota Highlander he bought as a birthday gift for her.

Sources told National Insight that many guests, who had already settled into the reception venue and were being serenaded by a live band, left the venue in shock and disbelief following the incident.

Described as a kind-hearted and generous man, Mr. Akinyele was well-loved by his kinsmen and community. In addition to his service in the Nigeria Customs Service, he was also a hotelier in Lagos.
