Renowned sports journalist Francis Oluwakayode Osifeso, popularly known as Uncle Kay, has passed away at the age of 85.

His wife of 47 years, Mrs. Rhoda Osifeso, confirmed that he died on Thursday, February 12, 2025, at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, following age-related ailments.

Osifeso was a prolific sports writer in his prime, making significant contributions to sports journalism in Nigeria. He worked with three major national newspapers—Daily Times, Concord, and Third Eye—as well as Radio Nigeria, where he carved a niche for himself with his insightful and authoritative reporting.

Fondly remembered for his deep knowledge of sports and compelling storytelling, Uncle Kay was a mentor to many in the profession. His legacy in Nigerian sports journalism remains indelible.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family in due course.
