
Veteran juju music legend, Alhaji Ismaila Ayandele Bello, popularly known as Ahuja Bello, has passed away.
A statement by his son, Adetunji Bello, confirmed that the music icon died in the early hours of Monday, August 25, 2025, just a day after celebrating his 83rd birthday.
According to the family, his remains will be laid to rest later today in accordance with Islamic rites.
Born on August 24, 1942, in Iseyin, Oyo State, Ahuja Bello rose to prominence as the leader of the popular juju band Ahuja Bello and His Golden Eagles. He released several notable albums, including Awa ti Danfo and Ariya ti De, and also recorded some works in London, earning him a place among Nigeria’s celebrated juju musicians.
