Members of the Nigeria Forest Services known as Forest guards, farmers and traders early this morning stormed the streets of Akure, Ondo state capital to stage a solidarity protest in support of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu order to herdsmen to vacate forest reserves in the state within seven days.
Governor Akeredolu had on monday met with stakeholders to review the security situation in the state vis a vis activities of bandits in the state
Part of the decision was the herdsmen should vacate forest reserves in Ondo state and ban night grazing among others in the state.
On thursday the protesters carried placards urging the Ondo Governor not to back down on his directive.
Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Comrade Jacob Adejo, said commercial drivers were no longer safe in the state.
