The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has launched an investigation into a reported incident involving Dr. Chukwudi Okoye, a lecturer in the Department of Theatre Arts and Film Studies, and Goddy Mbakwe Precious, a 300-level student of the Department of History and International Studies.

The incident, which has attracted public attention on social media, is being taken seriously by the university.

In a statement signed by Njelita Louis O., Acting Head of Information, Public Relations, and Protocol, the institution reaffirmed its commitment to fairness, discipline, and ethical standards.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph I. Ikechebelu, has ordered a full-scale, transparent, and unbiased investigation into the matter. The university urged all concerned parties and the general public to remain calm as the process unfolds.

“UNIZIK is dedicated to upholding discipline, self-reliance, and excellence. Appropriate actions and sanctions will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation,” the statement read.
