Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two local hunters for presenting themselves as officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Balkari village of Hong Local Government Area.
The two men, Abdulrazaq Bindow and Ismaila Alim have been identified as residents of Maiha LGA.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Suleiman Nguroje revealed this in a statement, on Tuesday that the suspects had in the early hours of March 2, 2023, armed themselves with guns and invaded Balkari village, wearing NDLEA uniforms.
Nguroje stated that the command intercepted the suspects on the fateful day, March 2, and recovered two pump action guns, 11 live cartridges, handcuffs, leg chains, and jackets from them.
He said the fake officers made the villagers believe they were personnel of the NDLEA, arrested three of the villagers: Amos Daniel, Kwada Fitagu and Gambo Zira and put them in handcuffs.
The villagers, however, alerted the police when they suspected the actions of the hunters. The Police thereafter effected their arrest.
He said investigations had already shown that the suspects are members of the Adamawa State chapter of the Hunters Association of Nigeria.
