Tributes as NUJ Holds Commendation Service for Late Alao Akala’s Chief Press Secretary Bar. AB Ojo

The Nigerian Union of Journalist,NUJ, Oyo state Chapter in Wednesday holds a commendation service for the late Bar Abraham Abolaji Ojo.

AB Ojo, a media and legal practitioner who served as the chief Press Secretary to the late Governor of Oyo state Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala died on 30th of December 2023 at the age of 65.

At the commendation service which was held at Dapo Aderogba Hall, NUJ press centre, Iyaganku Ibadan friends and family paid glowing tribute and extolled the virtue of the late media practitioner

The Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists ,Oyo state Chapter Chief Ademola Babalola, said the commendation service for the late member was necessary considering his role and support for the Union and members while in service.

He described the late lawyer as an easy going, friendly and brilliant mind lived a fulfilled life with great accomplishment

Also Mogaji Soladoye Adewole, a former chairman of the Union said ” i had wanted AB to succeed me as NUJ chairman but the power that be then did not allowed it, i knew he had a better plan for the Union being a brilliant and responsible journalist, he is always neat and easygoing, may God rest his soul and protect the family he left behind

Also his Son Tobi Ojo while speaking about his father said “My father was an inspiration a true father who cares and was always there, i grew up to know him as a brilliant mind, simple and straightforward, he gave us the best, we are going to miss him

Others including Mr Soga Oke, Gbenga Ayoade, Wole Oladokun, Remi Oladoye, Mrs Busola Adetunji and Chairman NUJ information Chapel Mr Fasai Ismail, Pastor Henry Newman and others expreeses sadness over the untimely exit of Bar Ojo and prayed that the lord will grant him eternal rest

In his sermon,Bisi Oladele an editor with The Nation Newspaper urged people to always be prepared because nobody knows when he would die

“If AB Ojo knew he would die at the time he did may be he would have be more active and ensure a cordial relationship with his God, make some restitution, call some people and tell them hidden information, and do other things but he was not chance, death took him unexpectedly but the good things is that what people have said about him is a testament that he live and died as a good man”
