An expert in the tourism and Travel Industry Dr. Dagunduro Olatokunbo has praised the initiative of the Oyo State Government and the management of Air Peace for implementing flight from Ibadan Airport to Abuja.
Dagunduro who is the National treasurer of the National Treasurer of National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies NANTA which is the umbrella body of all travel and tour agencies in Nigeria.
disclosed this in his office while briefing pressmen in Ibadan
He maintained that the initiative will open up the state to other parts of the nation and the continent at large.
According to him, the flight is an addition to overland Airways which has held the grip of this route for sometime. He further stated that there will be more frequency and variety of flights for passengers to choose between Ibadan & Abuja.
Dagunduro who is the Cheif Executive Officer of Rhapsody Travels & Tours said with this achievement soonest more destinations will open up from Ibadan airport and such will improve the revenue of the state and federal government at large.
He also commended Gov. Seyi Makinde for ensuring this positive development happened in Oyo State.
He further charge the state Government to invest more into developing tourism potentials in the state. He lamented that the enabling environment is not given to major stakeholders Travel Agencies, Hoteliers, Tour Operators and other players in the industry to market the vast potentials in the state.
He said the need to marry aviation with tourism is long overdue as I have been agitating through advocacy for close to a decade now.
“Let the state government involve professional stakeholders in the tourism board to help drive properly.
He likewise Commended the Nigerian Civil Aviation NCAA boss Captain Nuhu for ensuring the reality of Air Peace into Ibadan airpsace, am hopeful before the next one year more airlines will shift focus to Ibadan mindful of it’s population strength.
Dr. Dagunduro said he desire that Gov. Makinde will see to the first Touism Summit in Oyo State soonest a project which he believes will fix the state as a true pace setter in Tourism in Nigeria
