The lifeless body of a man identified as Mr. Jimoh, popularly known as Baba Ibeji, was discovered in his residence at Fedegbo area of Ogbomoso in what appears to be a case of suicide, FMRNEWS24 reports
Residents of the area were thrown into shock after finding him hanging from a rope in his sitting room on Thursday morning. According to eyewitnesses, Baba Ibeji was seen earlier in the day returning home after eating out.
“He said he wanted to go and sleep. Not long after, his wife came in and called us to come and see him—he was already dangling on the rope,” a resident recounted.
A cloth weaver who was also at the scene expressed disbelief, stating he had spoken with the deceased just a few hours earlier about a job.
“He promised to come later so we could discuss the work further. I never expected to hear this kind of news,” he said.
At the time of filing this report, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, and authorities are yet to make an official statement.
