It was a colorful parade of beauties on Sunday 8th October 2017, when Olokun Festival Foundation held its annual Miss Olokun 2017 beauty pageant at Martinos Events Center, Alausa, Ikeja.

At the end of the very entertaining evening, Titilade Obatula, a 23 year old 300 level Science Laboratory student of Kwara State University, Ilorin emerged winner while Maria – Silva Njoku, a mass communications 100level student of National Open University was the 1st runners up. The 3rd position was won by Adebanke Adedairo, a Community Health 100 Level student of Pogil College of Health Technology.

Miss Olokun 2017 is part of activities marking this year’s Olokun Festival. It is put together by Olokun Festival Foundation an initiative of Otunba Gani Adams who is the chief promoter of the organization.

The well attended event was witnessed by

Addressing the gathering, Otunba Adams revealed that the idea to add beauty contest to festivals is to engage the youths who have been brainwashed by alternative religions to view African tradition and culture as fetish. He also explained that the concepts of beauty queens attached to festivals by the foundation is different from the regular pageants around, as attention is placed on beauty, culture and brain.

The Grand finale of the Festival will hold on October 26th at Suntan Beach, Badagry
