Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has remained committed to fulfilling the promises he made to Northern Nigeria during the 2023 election campaign.
Speaking during the opening of a two-day interactive session on government-citizen engagement organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation in Kaduna, Governor Sani commended President Tinubu for supporting his administration in addressing the security challenges that had plagued the state for years.
According to the governor, President Tinubu has demonstrated sincerity in implementing his pledges across critical sectors, including security, education, health, infrastructure, agriculture, and social inclusion. He noted that although there is still work to be done, visible progress has been recorded and the “destination is in sight.”
“Upon assuming office as governor in 2023, I was confronted with a Kaduna State under siege. Insecurity cast a long, dark shadow over our communities. Banditry, terrorism, kidnapping, and violent crime had become daily spectres — from the Kaduna-Abuja expressway to Birnin Gwari, from Chikun to Igabi and across the uneasy corridors of southern Kaduna,” Governor Sani said.
He described the notorious Kaduna-Abuja highway as a “corridor of dread” and a symbol of previous governance failures, recalling the traumatic Abuja-Kaduna train attack of 2022 as a low point in the region’s security history. The governor said the state was so deeply affected that hosting a public conference like the present one would have been unthinkable just a year ago.
Governor Sani attributed the insecurity in the region not only to military or tactical failures but to deeper structural issues, including exclusion, poor educational access, and longstanding policy neglect.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to reversing this trend in partnership with the federal government, assuring citizens that their voices matter and that progress will be sustained through inclusive governance.
