Three Killed As Suspected Herdsmen Invade Communities in Ibadan

Three farmers were reportedly killed as suspected armed herdmen in the early hours of Sunday invaded three villages in the Akinyele local government area of Oyo state

The victims includes Ope Babalola from Babalola village, Waheed Ganiyu from Oniganna village, and Yemi Sunday Osuolale from Eguntola village.

Th development has forced villagers to fled their homes into the bush to escape the onslaught

The attack  sources said,  caught the villagers unawares resulting in confusion as the armed herdsmen launced fiercy attack on the villagers leaving three of the villagers dead .

According to sources ,the armed herdsmen during the invasion  attacked and  raided Ikereku, Pade, Olanla and Babalola villages while the villagers later arrested four of the suspected armed herdsmen  and had since been handed them over to Moniya Divisional Police station.

Confirming the incident, the Lawmaker representing Akinyele Constituency 1in the Oyo House of Assembly  Hon. Ayotunde Fatokun tasked security agencies in the state to ensure the culprits were brought to book.

Conracted, Oyo state Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), SP Gbenga Fadeyi said men of the command have arrested two suspects in connection with the attack on the villages.


“Unknown suspected hoodlums attacked the Eegbo village of 2 settlement at Olanla where three persons died. Police responded to distress calls, two persons were arrested and tactical Police teams were deployed and are still combing the area for more arrest. Credible information is being sought from the people
