The management of The Polytechnic Ibadan and Student Union Government SUG have called for calm as Babatunde Taibat , a female student of the school  that was shot  on Tuesday  is responding to treatment

A Personnel of the Polytechnic, Ibadan security department was alleged to have shot  shot  identified the  ND 1 student of Science Laboratory Technology department on the campus

It was gathered  that the security men had stormed the SEWAGE HALL of the institution to arrest a recalcitrant student, but the security men later started shooting which led to Taibat receiving a stray bullet.

Though the Public  Relation Officer of the institute Mr Soladoye Adewole  denied any involvement of the institution’s staff in the ugly incident, saying that the shooter is yet to be identified.

Meanwhile  The school registra, Mrs Modupe Theresa Fawale in   a statement  disclosed that the female student was immediately rushed to the University College Hospital where a first class medical attention was given to her.

“We appeal to all students and staff to remain calm and abide with all the regulations as investigations have been launched into the source of the gunshot” the statement added.

The statement also appealed to students to be vigilant and report suspicious activities to the Students Affairs office and other arms of the authority for necessary action.

Also the President Student Union Govt Comrade Adedeji AbdluAzees  Adedamola and the PRO Babatunde Oyero in a statement also confirmed that Taibat situation is getting better.

We implore all students to feel relaxed and never allow unscrupulous elements outside campus to hijack their peaceful movement for justice.

The Student Union Government wants to ensure we save the life first; then proper agitation follows. All we need now is prayers.
