The outgoing Rector of The Polytechnic Ibadan. Professor Kazeem Adebiyi has said his tenure recorded unprecedented academic excellence, infrastructural development and improved workers welfare.

Adebiyi who appreciated Governor Seyi Makinde for his quick response and intervention on the institution’s needs said his greatest wish is to see the Polytechnic of Ibadan ranked number one in Nigeria in no distance time.

In a chat with Journalists on thursday, Adebiyi whose five tenure ends on 25th march said he came in with the determination to pursue aggressive institution and infrastructural development and we were able to achieve it through the Grace of God and Support by Governor Seyi Makinde.

According to him when we came on board, we had 5 faculty but now we have 6 with 42 department against 32 that we had before, we have also introduced 11 new courses with full accreditation and more are still coming.

On Infrastructural development we also enjoyed the support of Governor Seyi Makinde, TETfund, CIBN groups, old students, individuals and philanthropists, we have a lot of new projects including 72 office complex for senior lecturers.

“Governor Seyi Makinde has been supportive in ensuring the progress of the institution with regular financial support for accreditation, infrastructures and other activities that enhanced development of the institution.

“On the demands of ASUP regarding the appointment of Senior Lecturer as Rector of the institution, Professor Adebiyi said he is in full support because it is the dictate of the NBTE and the council has approve it so there is no cause for alarm”

“Adebiyi equally said his tenure enjoy robust relationships with stakeholders security agencies staff and management of the institution in ensure compliance with the reforms initiated to enhance discipline on the campus.

“You will recall anytime student are having end of session or election, it used to be chaotic with casualties but with the introduction of electronic votings student who have completed their registration can vote from anywhere and that put an end to any form of violence ans during the end of session we engage the services of security agencies including Amotekun and our internal security organs.

Other management staff at the media chat included the  Deputy Rector- Princess Olaide Salawu, Immediate Past Deputy rector  Mrs Olabunmi, Register- Mrs Bodupe Teresa, Bursar- Mr Olawole Ojetola, Dr. Folaranmi Ajala and Engr. Stephen Ipadeola
