Director General, Nigeria China Strategic Partnership, Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Alhaji Yekini Adeojo, describing him as a towering figure in politics, religion, and community development.
In a heartfelt condolence message, Tegbe said he received the news of the elder statesman’s passing with a heavy heart, but in submission to the will of the Almighty. He lauded the life and times of Chief Adeojo, whom he described as a renowned leader, former governorship candidate, and respected religious icon.
“Chief Adeojo was exemplary both in his private life and in the public sphere,” Tegbe noted. “His consistency and loyalty in politics were noteworthy, rising through the ranks to become Deputy National Chairman of the PDP and Chairman of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, where he left indelible legacies.”
He also highlighted the late Adeojo’s strong religious convictions, which earned him the title of Seriki Musulumi of Yoruba Land. Tegbe said his faith and leadership in the Islamic community were as profound as his political engagements.
Tegbe emphasized that Alhaji Adeojo’s contributions to the development of Oyo State and Nigeria at large would be deeply missed, noting that his legacy would continue to inspire future generations.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the Adeojo family at this time, especially my brothers Elias and Sheriff. I also extend my condolences to the Oyo State Government, the Olubadan, and indeed all the people of Ibadan on the passage of this icon,” he said.
He concluded with a prayer: “May Allah grant him eternal rest and comfort his loved ones during this difficult time.”
