As part of his electioneering campaign promises to improve health condition of the people of his constituency, Hon. Yusuf Adebisi, representing Ibadan South West state constituency 1 in the Oyo State House of Assembly, has distributed birthing kits to 500 expectant mothers.
The health mission programme which was held at Ita Foko Primary Healthcare Centre, Foko, Ibadan, was in collaboration with Hacey Health Initiative and Aspire Coronation Trust Foundation.
Hon. Adebisi the Deputy chief whip of Oyo Assembly while addressing the beneficiaries of the kits, stated that he wanted the people of his constituency to have easy access to health, adding that it is a mission to contribute his quota to improving health situation in his constituency.
Adebisi, who is also the Deputy Chief Whip in the State’s Assembly, noted that the large turnout of the constituents for the programme was a pointer for the need to take care of the people health-wise, expressing that he will continue to give back to the people of his constituency who gave him the mandate.
He stated further that the idea of distributing birthing kits to the expectant mothers is to take up the health mission from the foundation level, in making sure that the health condition of the younger generations are well taking care of.
That part of the programmes he had outlined in the area of health is the renovation of health centre located at Ita Foko, promising that every arrangement to commence work on the renovation has been scheduled to kick-off any time from now.
The Deputy Chief Whip therefore appealed to the beneficiaries and the entire people of his constituency to pay adequate attention to water sanitation and hygiene situation of their environment.
He also used the opportunity to felicitate with Muslims in his constituency and the state at large on the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir, urging them to love one another and pray for peace and unity in the state.
Adebisi admonished them to take the advantage of the festival to propagate brotherly love among themselves irrespective of religion background.
The representative of the Hacey Health Initiative and Aspire Coronation Trust Foundation, Kehinde Babalola charged the constituents on the need for adequate sanitation and proper hygienic education to improve their health.
He identified poor access to improved water, sanitation and hygiene in Nigeria as major contributors to high morbidity and mortality in the country.
The beneficiaries commended the lawmaker for having the initiative to take care of their health, saying that Yusuf had demonstrated good quality of a representative.
The event was attended by the Peoples Democratic Party chairmen, women leaders and party faithful across the constituency.
