The Secretary to Oyo State government, Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun has enjoined the people of the State to support the governor with prayer for the success of the administration.
She said the present administration would not relent on its efforts to provide adequate infrastructural facilities and safe environment for the people, an effort she noted has strengthened the security network in the State which reflected in the peaceful atmosphere that pervaded the State.
Adeosun who represented the State governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde at the Special Thanksgiving Service organised in commemoration of the 59th National Independence Day celebration at the Cathedral of St Peter, Aremo, Ibadan.
“Let  me  appeal to the people of Oyo State to support Governor Makinde and his Cabinet with prayers for he started well and  meant  well  for the masses and there is need to intercede for him that God should grant him wisdom to achieve success in all his undertakings.
The Secretary to the State Government added that Oyo State Government was desirous of expanding the economy and making life comfortable for the masses, stressing that the government provided notebooks and free textbooks for public schools amongst others to improve the standard of education.
She said the rehabilitation of diagnostic centre at Adeoyo Hospital by the administration was one of the bold steps taken to overhaul the health sector in the state.
Earlier while delivering his sermon, the provost of the Cathedral, Reverend Adewale Adebiyi tagged the theme of his message as “Righteousness exalt a nation” (Proverbs 13:34), saying that righteousness was the general moral integrity which could promote a nation, adding that purity, truth and honesty should be imbibed by the citizenry.
Reverend Adebiyi remarked that Nigeria was at the state of depreciation and depression because of unrighteousness which characterized the life style of average Nigerians.
“Unrighteousness depreciates a nation and virtues are becoming alien to our nation. A nation that is been ruled by dummies is going nowhere. It is only integrity and intelligence that exalts a nation and makes it better. It is only in Nigeria that primary school leavers are ruling Professors.”
Adebiyi said Nigerians needed attitudinal change, fear of God and repentance, stressing that Nigeria needs serious and intensive prayer for God-fearing leaders with integrity and intelligence to move the country forward.
He observed that people loved wealth and pleasure than God in Nigeria adding that it is saddening that the rich flaunt their wealth to the poor.
The Provost, however, admonished Governor Seyi Makinde to be cautious and wary of people with low integrity that managed to join his cabinet so that they would not mar his government’s efforts and bring his administration into disrepute.
