Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has been plunged into grief once again following the death of his mother, just weeks after losing his father.
Nwabali, who plays for Chippa United in South Africa’s Premier Soccer League, shared the heartbreaking news on social media on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. In an emotional post on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “Rip mom,” followed by, “worst year of my life already.”
The 27-year-old also expressed his anguish in a previous post, stating, “A very very crazy world indeed.”
Nwabali’s father passed away in November 2024, just hours before the Super Eagles faced Rwanda in an Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.
Although Nwabali did not disclose details about his mother’s death, the double tragedy has left fans and well-wishers offering messages of condolence and support to the talented goalkeeper.
Known for his sharp reflexes and composed demeanor on the field, Nwabali has earned widespread praise for his performances with Chippa United, cementing his reputation in African football.
