Akala’s death, unexpected -a huge loss – Minister Sunday Dare
Minister of Youth and sports Development Chief Sunday Dare, Former Governor of Abia State and Chief Whip of the Senate, Dr. Orji Kalu and a member of the National Governing Board of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Prince Kunle Oyewumi have expressed deep sadness over the death of former Oyo State Governor, Chief Adebayo Alao- Akala, describing it as a huge loss to Ogbomosho, Oyo State and Nigeria.
According to a statement sent by the Minister who is reportedly on his way back from the African Nations in Cameroon, he said it was really difficult to accept the reality of the news of someone as close to him as Alao Akala was.
” I received the news of the death of my elder brother, astute political statesman and Former Governor of Oyo State, Chief Christopher Adebayo Alao- Akala with a huge sense of loss, shock and pain. His death not only came suddenly, but quite devastating. He was like a big brother to me, so his death has robbed me of a dear one who was so passionate about the development of Ogbomosho, Oyo State and Nigeria at large.”
The Minister further stated ” His death is a huge loss not only to the family, but especially Ogbomosho, a place he loved and lived for. His death has created a huge vacuum in our political space. Coming at a time when his political sagacity and clout was most needed makes it such a monumental loss.
May God console his family, his political associates and the people of Oyo state on the demise of this great personality.
Former Governor of Abia State and Chief Whip of the Senate, Dr. Orji Kalu has expressed sadness over the passing of former Governor of Oyo state, Otunba Adebayo Alao- Akala.
Kalu who described the late former Governor as a compassionate politician and philanthropist of repute, stressed that the deceased sustained large political followership in Oyo state , owing to his humility and large heart, adding that the late politician will be greatly missed by family, friends and associates.
While commiserating with the government and people of Oyo state, Kalu urged the Akala family to uphold the good deeds of their late patriarch.
In a condolence message, Kalu prayed to God to repose the soul of Akala.
He said, “I received with a heavy heart the news of the passing of former Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao- Akala.
” The deceased was a consummate politician and philanthropist, who was committed to the growth and progress of Oyo State and Nigeria.
“Having served in various positions in the public sector, he contributed to nation building in various capacities.
” His remarkable legacies will continue to speak for him.
“I join the people of Ogbomoso in mourning the passing of their illustrious son”.
The former Governor urged the Akala family to take solace in the fact that the late politician lived a fulfilled life.
Prince Kunle Oyewumi, a member of the National Governing Board of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), described the demise of the late former Governor as a huge loss to Oyo State and Nigeria, Oyewumi acknowledged the contributions of the deceased to the social, economic and political development of Nigeria.
He stressed that the notable political figure, will be greatly missed by the people of Ogbomosoland and environs.
In a condolence message, Oyewumi, who was one-time Special Adviser during the regime of the former Governor, prayed to God to grant the deceased eternal rest and give the people of Ogbomoso the fortitude to bear the loss.
He said, ” the demise of former Governor of Oyo state, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala is a huge loss to the country.
“Having served meritoriously in various positions in the political space, the late politician contributed immensely to nation building.
” The late former Governor was compassionate, urbane and kind-hearted.
” His memories will remain evergreen.
“He supported me in many ways.
It is a personal loss” .
The Ogbomoso Prince prayed to God to grant the Akala family peace and strength during this period of grief.
