The crown prince of Ogbomoso pastor Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye, has claer airs on the rumour making rounds the he had resigned as Pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God ,(RCCG), Jesus House DC, Washington, USA.
In a telephone interview with ogbomosoinsightonline.com
Prince Ghandi Olaoye said the unfounded insinuation had caused him untold embarrassment as he was inundated with calls from different parts of the world.
He emphatically said he had not resigned stressing, ”Why would l resign when His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde, has not approved my nomination. Se eniyan ma n gbo kuku ojo ki o da omi inu agbada nu ni (Does one pour away the stored water in pots just because of the rumbling of rain)?
“I did not resign, it is a lie. I have never said it to anybody that l resigned.”
Similarly, he debunked the rumour that he bribed the kingmakers with N48m to secure their support, averring, “lf l bribed them with N48m would the kingmakers’ votes have been tied in the first vote? The Colonel and l had two votes apiece before the deciding vote was cast for me.
“I would have won at first vote if l had given them N48m, l am also looking for N48m. Why would l bribe people with such amount because l want to be Oba?” he said.
On the allegation that his name was not included in the eleven names submitted to the kingmakers by the screening committee of his ruling house, Laoye, he posited it was a wrong assumption affirming that what the Chiefs Law of 1958 says is for the family to present names of interested candidates to kingmakers and not to screen them.
“It is the kingmakers that have the powers to screen. This was said publicly by the local government officers at the Town Hall. And I was invited to the screening, my name is number 13 on the list. Go and check the Chiefs Law.”
