Eminent personalities from all walks of life including the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege 111, Onpetu of Ijeruland , Oba Sunday Oladapo and others joined the Family of the late Civil war Hero, Brig Benjamin Adekunle’s Family for 10th Year memorial thanksgiving in Ogbomoso, Oyo state.
The remembrance service held at the Cathedral of St David Agboin Ogbomoso also have in attendance traditional chiefs, ex service men, academics, politicians and others.
In his sermon, Rt. Rev. Dr. Titus Olayinka praised Adekunle’s unwavering dedication to enhancing the capabilities of the Nigerian military, urging greater recognition for his contributions from the government.
“The legacy of Brigadier General Benjamin Adekunle must not only be remembered but celebrated and honored,” Olayinka stated. He also called upon traditional rulers to foster unity and peace within Ogbomosoland.
Bishop Ademola Moradeyo of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Diocese of Ogbomoso, offered special prayers for the Adekunle family, emphasizing the importance of remembrance and community solidarity.
The memorial program will continue over the next few days, featuring a visit to an orphanage on Monday and an empowerment initiative for widows, schoolchildren, and other vulnerable groups on Tuesday and lecture on Wednesday
