The Soun of Ogbomosoland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolábi Olaoye, Orumogege 111, has expressed deep gratitude to the people of Ogbomoso following the recent Court of Appeal judgment affirming his selection as the rightful monarch of the ancient town.
In a heartfelt message to his subjects, Oba Olaoye described the ruling as not just a personal victory but a triumph for all indigenes of Ogbomosoland. He acknowledged the unwavering support, prayers, and resilience of the people throughout the legal battle and reaffirmed his commitment to leading the town into a new era of unity, growth, and prosperity.
“Ogbomoso is more than a town—it is a land of warriors, scholars, and visionaries. Our history is rich with triumphs, and our future holds even greater promise. As your king, I reaffirm my commitment to leading our great land into a new era of unprecedented growth, unity, and prosperity,” the monarch stated.
The Soun emphasized the need for unity among all Ogbomoso indigenes, both at home and in the diaspora, urging them to channel their energy toward the development of the town. He called for a collective effort to attract opportunities and position Ogbomosoland as a beacon of excellence.
“The time has come to harness our collective strength to transform Ogbomosoland, building on the legacies of our ancestors while laying the foundation for generations yet unborn. Let this moment serve as a rallying cry for peace, progress, and the relentless pursuit of greatness,” he added.
The monarch’s appeal comes amid efforts to foster reconciliation and strengthen the socio-economic landscape of Ogbomoso. His message has been widely received with optimism, as many residents believe it signals the beginning of a new chapter in the town’s history.
Oba Ghandi Afolábi Olaoye ascended the throne of his forefathers in 2023, following his selection as the new Soun of Ogbomosoland. However, his ascension was challenged in court, leading to a legal battle that was recently settled in his favor by the Court of Appeal.
