In a significant development for residents of Ogbomosoland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye (Orumogege III), the Soun of Ogbomosoland, announced today that efforts to rehabilitate the critically damaged trunk A road are set to begin.
Acknowledging the long-standing issues surrounding the road’s condition, which has been a major artery for commerce in Nigeria and West Africa, Oba Olaoye expressed his deep concern for the safety of commuters and the economic impact on the community. “I am not unaware of the terrible state of roads in our land, particularly the trunk A road,” he stated. “I feel the pain as you feel it, and I salute your perseverance and forbearance on the state of this road.”
The monarch highlighted that the current state of the road has led to loss of lives and disrupted commerce, making it a pressing concern for all citizens. In light of this, he has actively engaged with government officials and relevant agencies to expedite necessary interventions.
While awaiting full government action, plans for temporary relief have also been set in motion. “Our partners in this regard, based on our agreement, will kick-start the rehabilitation process this morning,” he announced, urging the community to join hands in supporting the project. “Together, we can recreate our land in the image we want,” he affirmed.
Oba Olaoye also expressed his gratitude to those who have supported the initiative and raised awareness about the road’s perilous condition, emphasizing the importance of collective effort in restoring the infrastructure crucial for the free flow of traffic in Ogbomosoland.
This proactive step marks a hopeful turning point for the residents, promising a revitalization of a vital transportation route that will enhance both safety and economic activity in the region.
