Soun of Ogbomosoland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III has extended warm congratulations to Nigerians on the occasion of the celebration of the dawn of Year 2025.

In a press release signed by his media aide, Rev Peter Olaleye, Oba Olaoye expressed heartfelt congratulations asserting the New Year is full of new opportunities and glory, despite the hardships, which he said must be meticulously tapped.

The monarch noted 2024 was a year filled with ups and downs affirming that the grace to overcome the numerous challenges emanated from God who should be praised.

“I congratulate Nigerians excitedly as we roll over into a New Year. Let us see this New Year as one full of new opportunities and glory and we must tap into these in order to strive towards fulfillment.

“2024 was a year of ups and downs for Nigerians but we were able to overcome through the grace of God and so we need to praise Him continually.”

Soun further thanked God for the success of Ogbomoso Cradle Carnival, which saw thousands of sons and daughters of Ogbomoso retracing their roots, as he appreciated the federal and Oyo state governments under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and Engr Seyi Makinde respectively, for the official recognition they gave to the carnival.

Oba Olaoye expressed gratefulness to President Tinubu and Governor Makinde for the developmental projects he stated they executed in Ogbomoso in 2024. “We are happy and we are thankful for the value Your Excellencies added to our community in 2024. While the Federal Government awarded the contract for the rehabilitation of the dilapidated old Ogbomoso – Oyo road, the execution of which is advancing at an impressive rate, the indefatigable Oyo state governor Engr Seyi Makinde completed and commissioned the 76.6km Ogbomoso – Iseyin (hitherto forgotten) road. We are grateful to Your Excellencies, we look forward to greater commitment to our communities in Ogbomosoland in 2025. May God uphold you.”

On the success of the maiden Ogbomoso Cradle Carnival, Oba Olaoye saluted the people of Ogbomoso and all who contributed to making the event a huge success and glamorous, assuring, “We will seize the momentum to realize our goal of turning the sod of developments and building on the foundation to recreate Ogbomoso in the image of the new millennial we envisage.”

His Majesty now made a solemn pledge, “From now on, we will move ahead at a faster rate as if the time is limited. 2025 will be the year to build on what we started in the year 2024. I beseech us individually and collectively, to key in.

“I am leading a voyage of upending the status of our community, economically, industrially, infrastructurally, aesthetically and in various other facets. I have been called to serve and not to savour the glamour and glitz of the throne but to serve our land and its people and this burden I have accepted and determined to bear.”

Meanwhile, His Majesty charged Nigerians not to be wearied in the face of the excruciating challenges whittling down lives in the country, assuring, “From the ashes of suffering will a new Nigeria rise.”

“Once again, I felicitate Nigerians on welcoming Year 2025, it is my earnest prayer that it will be a prosperous year and one of tranquility. In the midst of hardship let us believe that we will strike comfort and surplus,” the Oba stated.
