Kehinde Ayanboade,
Speaker of the Oyo state House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin has implored the youths to do against the act of Internet Fraud and things that can tarnish their image in their future endeavours.
The speaker who was represented by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Hon. Abiodun Muhammed Fadeyi made this advice on Wednesday while presenting his keynote address at the 2nd Oyo State Youth Summit tagged “Young People Renegotiating Development Plan” organized by the Oyo State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria at the Mauve 21 Event Centre, Ibadan.
Ogundoyin regards youth as set of people within the age range of acceptable norms and standard that should see themselves as an agent of “not too young to Run” agenda in developing their country rather than involving in various illegal acts.
While reminiscing the history of politics in Nigeria, he noted that the same set of people that has been ruling since Nigeria independence are still the one recycling the government. He also made references of young politicians that have contributed to the success of their various countries.
“The ‘sage’ Chief Obafemi Awolowo, A nationalist of Nigeria Independence was a young politician with an energetic dedication until he became the premier of the western region in 1959 when he was 50 years old.
It is joy to say a significant motivation for the Youth is the President of France who is still at the age range of the youth. Also for the first time in history we have youth dominate a state assembly.”
He advised the youth to engage in politics so that they can be fix in strategic position rather than been rendered useless and lazy in the country.
In the same vein, the Oyo state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Barr. Mutiu Agboke has advised the youth to change people’s mentality that young people are brainless and have not foresight.
“People merely looking at a young person holding microphone will expect nothing sensible to come out from them.
We use to see EFCC arresting old men and politicians, until we start seeing youths been arrested and arraigned by an anti – corruption agency for fraudulent acts.”
Agboke further revealed that he is the youngest Resident Electoral Commissioner Nigeria ever had especially in a complicated state like Oyo state.
He then advised the new Speaker of the 9th Assembly to apply adequate justice in any endeavour or activities he comes across during his dispensation.
It could be recalled that at Age 32, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin is the youngest speaker Oyo state ever had.
