In a bold move to promote human capital development and empower young Nigerians through education, Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai, representing Yobe South Senatorial District, has sponsored 100 students to India for undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes.
A send-forth ceremony for the first batch of 51 beneficiaries was held in Potiskum under the auspices of the Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai Education Trust Fund. The event, themed “Empowering Youths Through Education,” brought together government officials, academics, traditional rulers, politicians, parents, and well-wishers from across the district.
Speaking at the colourful ceremony, Senator Bomai reiterated his commitment to investing in education as a tool for sustainable development and youth empowerment. He noted that the foreign scholarship scheme was designed to give bright and ambitious young people access to world-class education, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute meaningfully to national growth.
The beneficiaries, who are heading to various institutions in India, expressed appreciation to the lawmaker for the life-changing opportunity. Community leaders and dignitaries at the event also commended Senator Bomai for his visionary leadership and dedication to improving the lives of his constituents through education.
The remaining 49 beneficiaries are expected to depart in the next batch as the initiative continues to strengthen the educational foundation of Yobe South and inspire a new generation of leaders.
