Senate Confirms AbulRasheed Bawa as EFCC Chairman

The Nomination of Abdulrasheed Bawa has been CONFIRMED as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC has been confirmed by the Nigerian Senate

The confirmation was done after a thorough screening where he gave an insight into how he would lead as EFCC chairman

Bawa during the screening debunked the claims that he was arrested and detains by the former acting Chairman Ibrahim Magu for selling asseta recovered by the commission

According to him “I have a very cordial relationship with former Acting Chairman Ibrahim Magu. I was never arrested nor detained by him. He called me on phone to congratulate me on my appointment. I do have a very cordial working relationship with former Acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu

On what he would do to have a better EFCC, Bawa said “What I can do differently is leading by example. I have never been in office a minute after 8:00am except something happens. I will try as much as possible to ensure that I am leading the path.”

“I am a human being but I assure you I am going to discharge my duties without fear or favour. Conscious of the fact that I am a human being and after this life I will die and after my death there will be judgement and sentence.” –

“If we have proper funding, I can tell you that law enforcement will be different in this country. A single case may cost you maybe N20 million. What I believe is proper funding can change the face of law enforcement in this country.” He said

He added that asset disposal will be carried out on case by case basis. As we are concluding a case in court and sequel to court’s judgement, we will go on discharging that asset and I think that will solve most of our problems.”

He however promised that the confidence that Mr. President has on him and his colleagues will be repaid with diligent work for the betterment of this country.
