The lawmaker representing Oyo South Senatorial District. Dr Kola Balogun has given the 9th National Assembly a pass mark, especially in the area of budget passage and working with the executive arm of government.

Balogun while featuring on a radio program in Ibadan on Saturday said unlike their predecessors when the budgets is being passed in July/ Agust, the National Assembly members ensured that there is no delay in the passage of budget

He maintained that the wish incoming 10th National Assembly will make a  law that will remove facilitation of projects as part of the functions of the lawmakers, so that they  will concentrate on making laws and performing oversight  functions.

Speaking on the performance of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), during the last governorship and House of Assembly elections in Oyo State, Balogun said the party needs to put it house in order.

“We have to put our house in order, forget the past and move on. People should come together and rebuild the party unconditionally so that the party will continue to be relevant in Oyo State,” he said.

On why  how he left the PDP, the former commissioner for  trade and commerce in the state said he had no regret leaving the PDP for the APC despite the fact that he failed to secure the ticket of his new party to seek a return to the National Assembly.

“I have no regrets leaving PDP. I will not do anything different, leaving for APC. What you may not know is that, that was the most unexpected thing to happen, not just by me but by a lot of PDP members, leaders and followers.

He accused a prominent Ibadan high chief who is also a former governor of the state as the mastermind of the decision by Makinde to deny him the PDP ticket.

“Engineer ‘Seyi Makinde, begged me with the second term senatorial ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the build up to the 2023 elections, i was  offered the ticket before the primary which produced Mogaji Joseph Tegbe as the PDP candidate for the election in Oyo South Senatorial District, but i declined the offer.
