His father, Prince Khaled bin Talal, confirmed the heartbreaking news and announced that funeral prayers will be held on Sunday at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh, immediately after the Asr prayer.
Prince Alwaleed slipped into a deep coma after suffering critical injuries in a car accident while studying in London. Despite occasional signs of minimal movement that sparked brief hope, he never regained full consciousness.
For 19 years, Prince Alwaleed was kept under intensive medical care, with his family—especially his father—clinging to hope for a miraculous recovery. Prince Khaled consistently refused to remove his son from life support, maintaining steadfast faith that only God determines the moment of death.
The story of the young royal, often referred to as “The Sleeping Prince”, drew widespread attention and sympathy across Saudi Arabia and the broader Arab world. Millions followed his condition closely over the years, with his perseverance and his family’s devotion becoming a symbol of hope and faith for many.
