The Chief of Staff to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Mr. Tayo Ayinde has withdrew from the legal battle he intended to engage with the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland Iba Gani Adama over audi clips in Circulation.
Ayinde last wednesday served a notice to the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, to retract what he described as “heavy and damaging allegations” made by the traditional warlord or face legal action.
Ayinde in a letter signed by his lawyer stated that he had been inundated with local and international telephone calls as well as personal visits informed by some references to him in a Press Release, titled “I did not take part in killing Chief Bola lge”, by Sunday Adeyemo, denouncing the accusation of the Aare.
But Aare Gani Adams in a statement on monday said “Though my legal team have done what was required of them, I need to state it clearly that the audio clip generating the squabbles was a distorted and disjointed content of a private conversation which held way back in 2021 with a US-based younger brother of a friend.”
“The conversation was initiated by the young man who claimed he wanted a reconciliation between myself, Igboho and some other people.
Ayinde’s lawyer Adeyinka Olumide- Fusika of Citipoint Legal Practitioners and Notary Public in a response to Iba Gani Adams’s legal team said “In the circumstance, unless you dispute what has been summarised above as his understanding of what you were asked by your client to communicate to him, my client will allow the matter to rest.”
“Kindly assure your client that my client appreciates the fact that the public office he holds and his conduct in it is liable to scrutiny and criticisms by any and every member of the public that feels ill-served by any act or commission or omission by him in that office. While he will not hold anyone in grudge for exercising that right, it is his reasonable expectation that anyone doing so, including your client, the Aare Onakakanfo, abides by truth, fairness and the paramountcy of public interest “
