The RuffyEdwards Empowerment Initiative has provided food support to pupils of St. James’s Primary School, Okebola, Ibadan, as part of efforts to combat hunger among school children.

The outreach, carried out on Wednesday under its flagship programme, Project Nourish Food Bank, saw hundreds of pupils receive essential food items, including rice, garri, spaghetti, semolina and vegetable oil for their families.
The initiative is aimed at addressing the growing challenge of food insecurity among pupils, which stakeholders say continues to affect children’s health, concentration and academic performance.
Speaking during the outreach, the Founder of the initiative, Princess Adedolapo Oni, said the programme goes beyond food distribution, noting that it is designed to restore hope and dignity among vulnerable children.
According to her, “This is about restoring dignity, giving hope, and creating an environment where children can truly focus on their education without the distraction of hunger.”
She explained that Project Nourish Food Bank is focused on bridging the gap between education and nutrition by ensuring that children have access to basic meals needed for learning and development.
Oni also appreciated sponsors and partners whose contributions made the outreach possible, noting that their support has enabled the initiative to reach underserved communities.
She added that the outreach at St. James’s Primary School is part of a broader plan to expand the programme to more schools and communities across Ibadan and beyond.
The event brought relief and excitement to the pupils, many of whom expressed gratitude for the support received, as the initiative reaffirmed its commitment to tackling hunger, one classroom at a time.
