The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) Rev. Tor Uja has condoled with the family of late Chechet Shekarau, a staff of NCPC who died recently after a protracted illness.
The Executive Secretary was represented at the condolence visit to the Shekarau’s family in Kaduna by his special Assistant, Mr. John Tor Akume.
In a letter delivered on his behalf to the father of late Chechet Shekarau, Mr. Mark Shekarau, the NCPC Boss said: “Chechet was sharp, bright and promising young man with a great future ahead of him. His accident in Israel is one of the most regrettable things that this Commission has ever experienced. We have prayed that this will never be repeated in the life of any other person.”
He added: “we are grieved that he died at such tender age in the course of service to Nigeria through this Commission.”
In his response after the condolence letter from the NCPC boss was read, a representative of the family, Mr. Sani Shekarau thanked the Executive Secretary for the outpouring of love, for the prayers and for all the Commission has done. He said: “we have received this letter with heavy heart, but everything happens according to the will of God”.
He thanked the Executive Secretary for sending a delegation to empathize with the family.
He reaffirmed what the Executive Secretary said in his condolence letter that “this Commission will never have cause to experience such a disaster. He Affirmed:” the commission has lost him, the country has lost him, but God has not lost him”.
Late Chechet was involved in an accident in Israel during the 2013 pilgrimage exercise. Since then the Lord has kept him thus far until Feb 10th, 2017 when he finally left to meet his creator.
Chechet Shekarau until his accident in Israel was a staff of the Operations department. He was 30 years old.
He is survived by his parents Mr. & Mrs. Mark Shekarau, and Siblings
Service of songs was organized for him on 17thFebruary in Kaduna and was buried on 18th February, 2017 at his home town in Zango Kataf Local Govt. Area of Kaduna State.
