Residents of Saki town in Oke Ogun area Oyo state have called on Engineer Oluseyi Makinde led administration to take prompt action on deplorable condition of the township road initiated by the immediate past government
The dual 9.7km road which was flagged off by Ajimobi in December 2016 stretches from Oke-Ogun polytechnic to Ilesa-Baruba Road
The project was awarded to Adolf Engineering Development Company at a contract sum of #8,239,875,839.47 and expected to be completed within 18 months
During the campaign tour of Oke Ogun in February Senator Ajimobi said “Our administration is the first to construct a dualized road in Saki ever since the existence of this community. And with the level of work I have seen, the road will be completed before our departure in May.”
After the election, the contractors have not been to site and work has since stop on the road leaving residents and commuters to suffer greatly on the road
Although the state government team led by commissioner for Works and Housing Professor Ralph Afonja visited the site few weeks ago to ascertain the level of development but nothing has been done since
A visit to Saki reveals that many traders who have businesses along the route have abandoned their shops due to dust and erosion
“ Alhaja Rashidat, a trader who spoke with our reporter said” Ajimobi disappointed us on the road project and we are just hoping that Gov Makinde will not follow his steps on the road project
A motorcyclists simply identify as Kasali said “ ,Apart from the fact that most of our people have died as a result of dust related disease when it rain the work for that day must stopped on that route because it is suicidal to ride on that road, even motorists don’t dare it .
“ Most of the alternative route are also in a deplorable condition and we are begging Engineer Seyi Makinde and Federal Government to please come to our aides on infrastructural development
