Unions of Okada riders have called on the government and other related agencies to reduce the cost of license for motorists and motorcycle riders in the country
This they said will afford commercial motorcycle riders the privilege of obtaining it without stress.
Oyo state Chairman of ACCOMORAN, Mr saheed Folaranmi gave this urge while speaking at a stakeholders meeting convened by the community Relations Unit on sensitization/safety awareness for Okada Rider in Oyo state.
The programme which was held at the house of Chiefs in Oyo state Secretariat Agodi Ibadan had in attendance representatives of Oyo state Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, Member of the state House of Assembly, officials of Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC, Vehicle Inspection Officer VIO, members of NURTW and other stakeholders
Saheed noted that Okada riders are law abiding student and will continue to comply with rules and regulations guiding the safety operations of its members in the state.
He however commended the state government for the initiatives which offers them opportunity to dialogue with the government on issues affecting their services.
Some of the resolutions contained in a communique which was read at the end of the meeting includes, compulsory usage of safety helmet, one passenger, ban on sales of Alcoholic drinks popularly known as Paraga at parks and plate number
