Students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso, on Monday stage a peaceful protest in Ibadan oyo
Part of their demands is the immediate reopening of the school payments оf all outstanding ѕаlаriеѕ аnd аllоwаnсеѕ оf striking wоrkеrѕ, nо to hikе in ѕсhооl fееѕ, improved funding аnd dеmосrаtiс mаnаgеmеnt of LAUTECH аnd restoration оf LAUTECH Studеntѕ’ Uniоn.
The students in their hundreds while addressing journalists at the Correspondents’ Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ),Mokola,Ibadan chided Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State and his Osun State counterpart, Rauf Aregbesola over the protracted crisis in the school.
Placards bearing various inscriptions were carried by the students who also sings anti government and aluta song condemning what they termed as abandonment by the state governor
They said the attitude of two governors toward the school is political to students’ future.”Education is our right, we are tired of been at home, Operation re-open LAUTECH, Aregbesola stop politicking ,we are future leaders”
Speaking on behalf of other students on the aegis of Save Education and Reopen Coalition (SERAL-C),Comrade Omoakin Monsurudeen demanded the immediate and unconstitutional reopening of the school and payment of all outstanding salaries and allowances of striking workers.
Speaking further, the students rejected the proposal to increase school fees of the students by 65 per cent and 75 per cent for indigenes and non-indigenes respectively in order to cover for the shortage of funds and equally called for improved funding and democratic management of LAUTECH and restoration of the school’s students’ unionism.
“The fee increment is not only anti-poor but also criminal especially against the background that parents owed salaries and those being paid half-salaries are the ones expected to provide the funds to run the school”
On the proposed resumption of the school, the students faulted the action, saying it was an attempt to deceive the public. Stressing that the fundamental issues have not been addressed.
Meanhile in a statement they jоintlу ѕignеd, Ajimоbi and Arеgbеѕоlа ѕаid the рrоlоngеd closure of the university was rеgrеttаblе.

“It was in thiѕ rеgаrd thаt a Viѕitаtiоn Panel hеаdеd bу Chiеf Wоlе Olаniреkun, SAN, was ѕеt up in Oсtоbеr last year.
