President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the recent wave of violent incidents that have left dozens dead and many injured across Borno, Plateau, and Kano States. In a strongly worded statement on Sunday, the President condemned the acts as “unconscionable” and pledged swift justice and comprehensive support for victims and their families.
The President described the suicide bombing in Konduga, Borno State, which claimed several lives, as a “cowardly” act meant to instill fear. He revealed that he has directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to urgently assist survivors and consoled the people and government of Borno State over the loss. Tinubu also called on security forces to intensify operations to eliminate Boko Haram remnants and prevent them from targeting civilians.
In Plateau State, where 12 wedding guests were reportedly lynched, Tinubu decried the incident as “barbaric” and ordered the Nigerian Police Force to collaborate with other security and intelligence agencies to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators. “These killings must not go unanswered,” the President said, urging the Plateau State government to act decisively to break the cycle of violence and ensure lasting peace.
On the industrial explosion at a scrap metal facility in Kano, which claimed five lives, the President extended his condolences to the victims’ families and stressed the importance of workplace safety. He instructed relevant agencies to investigate the cause of the incident and implement measures to prevent a recurrence.
Affirming the constitutional right to freedom of movement, President Tinubu warned that his administration will not tolerate any attempt to curtail the rights of Nigerians through violence or fear.
“I offer my heartfelt prayers to the families of all those we have lost and to the injured. To the people of Borno, Plateau, Kano, and Kaduna States, I stand with you in grief and resolve,” he stated. “We will not rest until justice is done and peace and safety are fully restored across our land.”
The President concluded with a solemn prayer for the souls of the departed and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and freedoms of every Nigerian.
