The Leadership of National Association Of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has threatens a total shut down of Nigeria Economy if the Nationwide strike embarked upon by Academic Staff Union of Polythecnic ASUP goes beyond seven days.
This is contained in a letter to the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu and other stakeholders in the education sector.
According to the letter signed by Comrade Olalere Benedict Adetunji
NAP’s Global President “If Federal Government refused to do the needful, the Entire Polytechnic Students will have no choice than to embark on Nationwide Protest, block all the major roads in the 36 States including FCT and all Airports in the country. This implies a total shutdown of Nigeria Economy if the Polytechnic Students are not allow to return to campus for academics pursuit.”
“NAPS Leadership asked the Federal Government to do the needful as a matter of quick attention to all the request of our Lecturers. Knowing Fully well that Federal Government has the Capacity to meet the demand of the ASUP.
“Federal Government should desist from Laisser faire and negligence act on Education. No Nation develop beyond her quality of Education.
Considering the significance of Polytechnic Education in human capacity building towards technological and economic advancement in the country, there is a need for adequate attention to rejuvenate the Nigeria Education System interms of adequate funding for efficiency and effectiveness.
“The Leadership of NAPS has submitted her Position Papers on this Matter, calling on the Federal Government to respond without any iota of delay.
“We are appealing to Nigerian Polytechnic Students to remain calm and Law abiding as we awaits for the response of the Federal Government to the demand of ASUP National at the stipulated time.
